Pray In
Father God, as we open Your Word to understand the mysteries of our dreams, quiet our hearts and sharpen our spiritual discernment. Holy Spirit, illuminate the pages of Scripture and help us distinguish between Your voice and the enemy’s whispers. May we walk in wisdom, clothed in Your protection, as we seek to understand how You speak to us even in our sleep. In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.
Main Points
The Paul Situation: Acts 28 - dude gets bit by a deadly snake and literally nothing happens. People are standing around waiting for him to drop dead and he just keeps doing what he’s doing. That’s the kind of protection we’re talking about here.
Your Snake Dreams Might Actually Be Good News: If you’re getting bit in the dream but walking away fine, that’s God showing you something. The attack is coming but it won’t stick.
Sometimes You Need Snake-Level Thinking: Jesus said be wise as serpents - meaning think like they think but keep your heart clean. Strategic but not shady.
The Shake-Off Anointing: Love this phrase - some things you don’t even fight, you just shake them off and keep moving.
Definitions
Ambush Mentality: How snakes (and certain people) wait for the perfect moment when you’re not paying attention. They don’t attack head-on - they wait. (He said this applies to certain people too... facts)
Divine Immunity: When God’s protection is so obvious that even haters can’t deny something supernatural is happening
Shake It Off Anointing: Paul literally shook that thing into the fire. Some stuff you don’t even need to fight - just shake it off and keep moving.
Biblical Receipts
In the Book of Acts: “But he shook off the creature into the fire and suffered no harm...they changed their minds and said that he was a god.”
The Connection: He really emphasized this part - how the protection was so clear that people who wanted Paul dead had to admit he was protected by something bigger than them.
In the Book of Matthew: “Be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.”
What This Really Means: This is where he flipped the whole snake symbolism. Sometimes the serpent in your dream isn’t the enemy - it’s God telling you to get wise about your situation. Think strategically like they do, but don’t let it corrupt your heart. Stay pure but don’t be naive.
My Two Cents $
The way he broke down the Paul story really hit different. Like, Paul just survived a literal shipwreck and he’s out here being helpful, gathering wood for the fire. Then this snake comes out of nowhere and everyone’s probably thinking “finally, this guy’s gonna get what’s coming to him.”
But nothing happens. He said they waited “a great while” - so they’re really standing there expecting him to drop dead any second. When he doesn’t, they completely change their tune and start calling him a god.
That’s the kind of protection we’re talking about in these dreams. It’s not subtle - it’s so clear that people can’t explain it away. You should have been done for, but you’re not even fazed.
Then he switched gears and talked about the other kind of snake dreams - where the serpent represents wisdom. Got a little confused here because he mentioned Exodus 21 but then said he couldn’t remember why he wrote that down? Anyway, he moved on to Matthew 10.
This part was interesting - Jesus telling us to be wise as serpents. He’s not saying be deceptive, he’s saying learn their strategic thinking. Snakes are calculating, manipulative, cunning - but you can use that level of strategic thinking without letting it corrupt your heart.
He said if someone’s clearly positioning to come at you (love how he put that), don’t just sit there being naive. Think several moves ahead like they do but keep your motives clean. Be strategic but not manipulative.
Pray Out
Lord Jesus, thank You for speaking to us through dreams and visions, even when the imagery seems frightening or confusing. Help us to test every spiritual experience against Your Word, walking in both wisdom and innocence. When serpents appear in our dreams, whether as warnings of deception, calls to greater discernment, or demonstrations of Your protection, give us understanding hearts and courage to respond in faith. We claim Your authority over every scheme of the enemy, knowing that greater is He who is in us than he who is in the world. Keep us locked in Christ, secure in Your love, and victorious in every spiritual battle. In Your powerful name, Amen.
